Jack Sullivan Jr. Podcast: hate speech, hate crime, restorative justice (Ohio) Sept. 2019

September 6, 2019 2:00pm Pacific Standard Time

Columbus, Ohio

The Rev. Dr. Jack Sullivan, Jr., is the executive director of the Ohio Council of Churches, a 100-year-old ecumenical agency of 17 Ohio-based Christian denominations. Jack is an ordained minister with the Protestant Christian denomination known as the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ). His ministry is based on the Historic Black Church’s emphasis on social justice and freedom as modeled by Jesus Christ.

Dr. Sullivan’s life was forever changed by the 1997 murder of his younger sister, Jennifer. In the days that followed his sister’s death, his family rejected any notion that the killer(s) be sentenced to death if apprehended. No one was ever arrested in Jennifer’s death.

Jack is a nationally known speaker, social justice advocate and death penalty opponent. He is active in many national organizations including serving as Co-Chair of the Disciples Justice Action Network and as a  board member of the Journey of Hope…From Violence to Healing.

RJI is pleased to bring you this conversation with Pastor Jack as we discuss justice in America, the rise of hate crime and hate violence, the role of the Christian church and restorative justice.  Listen.
